Dave Babcock Stage Race - TT

Last night, I recieved a "text" that I had won the time trial at the omaha race weekend... by one second

Here is how it went down...
I was warming up at mount michael high school on my trainer. With the combination of 100 percent humidity, and 90 degree heat, I decided to forgo my typical hour TT warmup and do short thirty second efforts with one minute recovery. Things were feeling good until I got to the starthouse. The day immediately turned to bullshit when the rain started. I guess I counted on Ian Gray's luck too much to trump the rain.

Following a brief minute of pointing at the sky and cursing the cycling gods in bain, I was off. Things went as planned, I powered my way up the rollers and manuvered around the corners appropiately, but I wasn't catching aneyone. Fifteen minutes. Still not a soul. And the rain continued. Rubber down was the only thing on my mind around the last corner. Success. The last corner was two miles from the finish, and I tried to tell my body that I needed an all out effort into the finish. It, did not listen. Instead I could be seen attempting to "will" my pedals downward like the two time TDF time trial winner and now famous doper, sergi honchar (Astana). Finishing time 20:53

Dave Babcock Stage Race - Day 1

The first day of the DBMRS was what it was
65 mile circuit race
Cat 3 and Master combined
After multiple times (9) up the mile long hill
Scott Fairbairn (all9yards) made a nicely placed attack
It was either go with him and risk certain crampage
or hope that he blewup
he did not blowup
Scott Fairbairn 1st pace stage 1 DBSR
(me 6th)

in a blistering time of 33.3 mph.

Resturant #1 - Anthony's Bend, Oregon

Because I am on break and have absolutely nothing to do, you are getting a resturant review - Anthony's in Bend, Oregon.
Located on the scenic Deschutes river, Anthony's is a chain of seafood resturants that boost fresh fish flown in from the shores of... wherever.

I had -
1. Rockfish taco with mango salsa - fish was prepared fairly well, but they served some sort of mayonase with the fish taco...did not work at all. Their "homemade" corn chips were also barely eddible. Did not recieve the quinticential garnish of lime with my fish taco either...disappointing.
2. Clam chowder - nothing to say...not as good as JC's in Bend...

Whatever the lunch menu was lacking, all hope is not lost. Their dinner menu looked great...but for it's california price range cost may not be worth benifit.

Ville de Cedre

In a not so recent change, a town in California has branched out from it humble roots and beginnings.
The elders of Newhall, CA decided unanamously, that the town shall hereby be named Valencia.
Kind of a big deals... so...

In an attempt to Californiacate a small town nessled in the hills of northeast Iowa, elders (Steve Williams, Dave Williams and Matt Pavlovich) arrived via turbojet. Under a similar decision, and decided over dopio eXpresso, elders Williams, Williams, and Pavlovich changed the name of of Charles City to Ville de Cedre, or Village on the Cedar.

Mission complete.

krab melt

Dave, Steve, Ema(ily), and I went on the prowl for an artisan pacific northwest crabmelt. Instead of spending $90 at greg's grill (watress had the body of a heavy lifter) and Anthony's(waiter clearly on some sort of barbiturate) in Bend, Oregon, we should have stayed home, applied miricle whip and imitation crab in a 2:1 ratio to a bagel and called it a day.
